Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide Review

I first found Kayla Itsines on Instagram and just thought to myself “oh my god, she’s incredible”. She’s just so inspiring – I mean come on, look at how strong she is! She’s so dedicated to helping girls live a healthy lifestyle, so motivating and such a good role model. I’ve recently joined the Facebook Group which you can join if you’ve downloaded the guides and she’s really active on there – giving advice and support to all of us.

I tried the 12-week Bikini Body Guide once before last years summer holiday (weeks 1-10), and was happy with the results but didn’t give it my full attention, so I decided to try it again in September 2014. This time I completed the full guide just before Christmas and absolutely loved it. I then started it again in January 2015 with #thekaylamovement and stopped about 2 weeks before the end simply because I wanted to focus on the Rotterdam marathon I was running!

I’ve already posted one review from the last time I completed BBG that you can see here, but as I’ve recently completed the BBG (on the 3rd July 2015) and thought I’d post another review.

I can honestly say it’s the best $69.97 AUD (about £35) I have ever spent!! I have learnt so much about myself physically and mentally, I found it to be such a huge lifestyle change because it not only changes what you do but also your mentality to want to do it! Not only have I seen changes in my body that I never expected, I feel happy, healthy and so energised! And because of this, I want to keep eating healthy and working out – I love it so much I even started a new Instagram page to document it all!

When I was younger I was very active, doing a mixture sports more or less everyday, my metabolism stuck with me for a bit while I still lived at home, but moving out to university gave me the freedom to do and eat what I wanted. It was a lifestyle shock to my poor body. From homecooked meals and active living to eating takeaways and rubbish foods everyday, drinking alcohol more or less 4 times a week (heavily). I still did some exercise but it did not justify what I was eating (or the amount I was eating) – I was kidding myself! My sleeping pattern also suffered – because of the late nights and mix of early mornings and lie ins, it was way off.

This picture was the turning point for me, I saw it online and just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe that was me, I had felt fine, confident even, at the beach, but seeing that picture was like a slap in the face – I didn’t want to be unhealthy and unhappy about my body any more. I saw another picture of me at my nineteenth birthday and just felt so embarrassed – how had I let it get to this?

I decided I wanted to change. And I have now been doing Kayla’s BBG for over a year.

Here is my before BBG picture:

Here is my before picture (this time round):

And here’s my after picture:

Kayla’s guide has helped me SO SO much. It educated me in health and fitness and what it means to do the very best for my body. Every day I wake up and I want to move. I don’t stay up late (except for special occasions) or have many lie-ins any more. I still drink alcohol but on a much smaller scale and my eating has improved drastically. I feel generally much more toned all over, but I’m just so happy with how much better I feel and how much more comfortable I am in myself now!

**I don’t know how much I weighed then or now, because we don’t own any scales, but in dress sizes I’ve gone from a UK 12 to a UK 8!

So I wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you Kayla!! You’ve changed my life. I just started the second eGuide – BBG2.0 yesterday. I can’t wait to see what more my body can do!

You look great, looks like it’s really paying off for you. I just finished reading http://www.bikinibodyguidereview.com and she has some good points BUT after seeing your results I don’t know what I should do?

Is it really worth the money?

I just had a little read – I’ve not seen that before! To be honest, I already had kettle bells, a workout mat and dumbbells. I use a bench in my living room for the bench workouts and I don’t have a bosu ball at all so I just did regular burpees.
I think it’s worth the money. I’m from the UK so it was £35 – when you think about what you’d spend on a gym membership it’s really not much at all for 36 workouts! If you have any questions about it don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

You look great – glad it worked so well for you. I’ve been wanting to give it a go for a while now so I may give it a go. Did you find it achievable to fit in alongside your running training?

Thank you! I did – I substituted the LISS (fast walking) for running 3 times a week – not how it’s meant to be done, but I wanted to keep running 🙂

I know what you mean! I’ll keep my eyes out and let you know! The FBG is cheaper than the BBG if that helps?
