EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT AUTUMN

EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT AUTUMN

Although I’m a summer baby, I always look forward to the cooler months. I love it when the temperature drops and the leaves start to fall. We all love to moan about the cold weather but I think we secretly love it. I personally make no secret of my love for Autumn and Winter, and here are some of the things I’m looking forward to:

CRISP MORNINGS

Blue skies, frost on the parked cars and the fresh autumn breeze is everything I look for in an Autumn morning. I honestly long for those mornings where you have to layer up and you can see your breath rise in front of your eyes. I love the chill.

AUTUMN COLOUR

When the leaves turn and fall off their branches, sure it can be annoying when they delay your train (really, National Rail, sort it out) but the scenes they create are absolutely magical. Let’s face it – can you honestly say you don’t love walking along and kicking up the leaves?!

LONG WALKS IN THE COUNTRY

One of my favourite things to do in the cold – layer up and head out for hours of rambling with the family. With the fresh village air and my trusty sidekick Stumbles (aka Roo) next to me, I am literally in heaven. And let’s be honest – all that walking makes us thirsty, so we always make sure to end up at a pub for a drink (or two)..

STAY-INDOORS-ALL-DAY DAYS

Yep, those cosy days when the rain is beating at the window and you’re all snuggled up inside without a place to go. None of that “make the most of the sun” nonsense. Grab yourself a hot chocolate, pop some corn in the microwave and settle down with your favourite show on Netflix – you’re going nowhere today. And it’s the best.

RUNNING

You can keep your summer training, I’m a winter runner through and through. Running in the cold is just so much better – you’re not dripping with sweat before you start, you warm up as you go (handy when it’s -2°C) and you feel incredible once you’re done. Nothing feels better than a hard slog on the roads and coming back to a warm bath and a comfy robe.

CANDLES

Sure, you can light candles all year round, but when it’s sweltering outside you don’t really want to add to the rising temps. Cwtch down with your favourite blanket or mermaid tail and light a few candles, add a glass of red wine and you’re set for the evening!

AUTUMN/WINTER FASHION

I’m probably the furthest you’ll get from a fashion blogger, but winter fashion is certainly my kind of fashion. Layer it up and get comfy. From thick jumpers and woolly cardigans to black tights and ankle boots, this is the kind of fashion I can do. Grab your favourite chunky knit scarf from the back of your wardrobe and you’re good to go. Comfy is my middle name.

AUTUMN FOOD

Tis the season for hearty warming foods. Think soups that warm you from the inside out, delectable steaming fruit crumbles a dollop of custard, crunchy roasted pumpkin seeds (after you’ve made your Jack O’Lantern, of course) and a mountain of winter veg in a pool of gravy. My mouth is watering at the thought..

THE BUILD UP

I’m going to say it. The build up to CHRISTMAS. Those of you who know me/follow me on Twitter/Snapchat (elinyapp) know that I am *slightly* obsessed with the festive season. Why? Because everyone is cosy and happy and excited.

What are your favourite things about Autumn? Pumpkin spice lattes? Digging out your trust Uggs? Let me know in the comments!

Chai tea is my absolute favourite thing about Autumn, especially on those stay-indoor days. Nothing like it! Are you training for anything at the moment? I weirdly love winter training simply because it gets me outside!

YES!! It’s such a Christmassy flavour! I’ve got the Putney and Fulham half on the 16th Oct, other than that nothing lined up but looking at some European spring marathons xx
